GTA 6 on Xbox Series X|S: Will It Run on Series S?

Is GTA 6 coming to Xbox?

Yes. Rockstar’s GTA VI site names two launch platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Both get the game on November 19, 2026. There is no timed exclusivity on either side. The “Plays Best on PS5” branding is a marketing partnership, not a delay for Xbox.

Will GTA 6 run on Xbox Series S?

Yes. Series S is covered by the same Xbox Series X|S release, and the Xbox Store listing shows one product for both consoles under “Play with: Xbox Series X|S”. You do not buy a separate Series S version.

What nobody official has said is how the two consoles differ. Rockstar has not published resolution, frame rate or graphics modes for Series S or Series X, and the store’s capability list has no entries for either. Numbers you see online are estimates. Trailer 2 and An Extended Look were both captured on PS5, so there is no official Xbox footage to measure.

The closest thing to an official comment came in November 2024. Asked about Series S during a Take-Two earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick said the company’s studios “find a way to support platforms despite different levels of tech” and added, “I’m not really worried,” as reported by VGC. That is a statement of confidence, not a performance target.

What the Xbox Store listing shows

The description on the listing repeats Rockstar’s own line: “Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.” For which languages are covered, see GTA 6 languages.

Price and pre-order on Xbox

These match the PlayStation Store prices in all three. More regions are in GTA 6 price by country.

Buying on Xbox before the end of November 19, 2026 includes two extras:

• The Vintage Vice City Pack. Details are in the pack guide.
• One month of GTA+. On Xbox you redeem it under “Offers & credits” in the Store, within 180 days of placing the pre-order, once per account. It renews as a paid subscription unless you cancel.

Xbox One, Game Pass and PC

• Xbox One: no version has been announced, and the store lists only Series X|S.

Not announced

• Resolution and frame rate on Series S and Series X.
• Graphics modes, such as a choice between quality and performance.
