The two editions
Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026 at local midnight. Rockstar announced them on June 24, after a June 18 teaser.
| Edition detail | Standard Edition | Ultimate Edition |
|---|---|---|
| US price | $79.99 | $99.99 |
| Format | Digital, or a boxed download code | Digital only |
| Extra content | Base game | 16 named in-game items |
The boxed Standard Edition is a code in a box, not a disc. If you want something physical on a shelf, that is what arrives; the game still downloads in full.
The Ultimate Edition’s 16 extras are listed by name on the official edition page — vehicles, weapon variants, clothing, a tattoo parlor, mod shops and a classic car collection among them. The edition page gives each one a short description but no stats, so whether they are worth the extra $20 depends on how much that content appeals to you.
The pre-order bonus
The Vintage Vice City Pack goes to every pre-order and to every purchase made before November 20 — it is not exclusive to people who committed early. Rockstar says it includes a two-tone ‘55 Vapid Stanier sedan, a garage by Ocean Beach, outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and a weapon pattern. What is in the Vintage Vice City Pack covers it in detail.
The free month of GTA+
Digital copies of either edition bought before November 20, 2026 also come with one month of GTA+. GTA+ is a membership for GTA Online: the edition page lists a monthly GTA$500,000 deposit for your GTA Online character, Shark Card bonuses, free and discounted GTA Online vehicles, and a library of classic Rockstar games. It says nothing about GTA+ content in GTA VI.
| Redemption detail | PlayStation | Xbox |
|---|---|---|
| Redeem by | March 31, 2027 | 180 days after purchase |
| Where | The GTA+ product page on the PlayStation Store | Offers & Credits in the Microsoft Store |
- One redemption per platform account. Refunding and pre-ordering again does not earn a second month.
- If you are already a member, the month is added to your subscription and your next billing date moves back by a month.
- When the free month ends, the membership renews at the regular monthly price until you cancel.
Preload and release timing
Digital pre-orders can preload from local midnight on November 12. Boxed copies are expected at retailers the same day, and a boxed code can be redeemed as soon as you have it; redeemed codes preload from November 12 as well. Downloading early does not unlock the game early.
The US PS5 product page lists November 19 at 05:00 UTC. That is one platform in one store region — read your own store rather than copying another region’s clock. The preload and release time guide covers launch week in more detail.
Prices in other regions
The Hong Kong PlayStation Store lists HK$568.00 for the Standard Edition and HK$708.00 for the Ultimate Edition.
Taiwan’s PlayStation Store and Xbox Store now take pre-orders too, and both list the same prices: NT$2,320 for the Standard Edition and NT$2,900 for the Ultimate Edition, digital only. The Taiwan pre-order report covers what each store lists.
Anywhere else, the price that counts is the one in your own account’s store. Prices quoted by retailers or news posts, or converted from US dollars, may not match it.
Buying a boxed code from another region
Download codes are tied to regions on PlayStation. A code has to match the region group of the account that redeems it: Taiwan shares a group with Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand; the US and Canada form another; the UK is on its own. Xbox codes are not region-locked. Rockstar recommends buying from a retailer in your account’s country. Codes sold in Japan expire 170 days after November 19, 2026.
Cancelling or getting help with a pre-order
Rockstar Support sends each kind of purchase to a different place:
| Where you pre-ordered | Who handles purchase issues and cancellations |
|---|---|
| PlayStation Store | PlayStation Support |
| Xbox / Microsoft Store | Xbox Support |
| Rockstar Store (boxed copy) | Xsolla support, which has a guide to cancelling a pre-order |
| Any other retailer | That retailer, including refunds and delivery |
Rockstar Support does not set refund rules for PlayStation or Xbox pre-orders; each store’s own policy applies. Boxed orders from the Rockstar Store come with a tracking email when they ship, and buyers outside the US and UK may owe import duties or taxes. If you refund and then pre-order again, you do not get a second free month of GTA+.
Not announced yet
- Install size. Never announced. Do not buy storage against a community estimate.
- A PC version. Not announced at all — there is no PC pre-order to place. See GTA 6 PC release date.
- Retailer-specific bonuses. Any extra a shop advertises on top of the above is that shop’s claim, not Rockstar’s.
Before you commit
- Confirm your platform: PS5 or Xbox Series X|S are the only launch platforms.
- Decide digital versus boxed code — the Ultimate Edition removes that choice, it is digital only.
- Decide whether the 16 Ultimate items matter to you. The edition comparison lays them out, and you can also buy Standard now and upgrade to Ultimate later.
- If you take the free GTA+ month, note the redemption deadline, and cancel before it renews if you do not want to pay.
