Does GTA 6 Come on Disc? Physical Edition Explained

Does GTA 6 come on a disc?

There is no disc. The official edition page lists the Standard Edition as digital or a boxed download code, and the Ultimate Edition as digital only. Rockstar Support puts it plainly: “A disc will not be included in the box.” Buying the box gets you a printed code and packaging — the game itself still downloads in full.

What that changes for you

• Storage is not optional. There is no partial install from a disc, so you need room for the whole game. The size has never been announced.
• Preload still applies. Boxed copies are expected at retailers from November 12, the same day digital preloads open. The code works as soon as you have it, and redeemed codes preload from November 12.
• Resale and lending work differently. A redeemed code is tied to the account that redeemed it. A disc can be passed on; a code cannot be un-redeemed.
• A disc drive is irrelevant. A digital-edition PS5 or an Xbox Series S runs the game exactly the same way.
• Match the code to your account region. On PlayStation, a code only works on accounts from the same region group; Xbox codes are not region-locked. Rockstar recommends buying from a retailer in your account’s country.
• There is no boxed Ultimate Edition. Boxed Standard owners can buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade after redeeming the code — see can you upgrade to the Ultimate Edition.

Not announced

Whether a disc-based release appears later, and whether any region gets different packaging, have not been addressed.
